Dean of Liberal Arts
Full-time Administrator (Level 20)
Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 (Annual salary is commensurate with experience)
Reports to: Vice President of Academic Affairs & Provost
FLSA Status: Exempt

BASIC PURPOSE:
The Dean of Liberal Arts provides leadership for a division that includes Anthropology, Art, Communication Studies, Dance, English, ESL, the First-Year Experience, History, Languages, Liberal Studies, Mass Media, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Reading, Sociology, Sound Recording and Music Technology, and Theatre Arts. The Dean creates and maintains clear curricular paths to career and/or transfer and supports program growth and development. The dean provides visionary leadership, articulating the centrality of a broad-based liberal arts education while supporting students, faculty, and staff in meeting the College’s student success goals. The Dean is an important liaison for the College with business and industry partners, transfer partners, K-12 educators, government officials, grant agencies, and private funders. As a member of the VPAA’s leadership team, the dean acts to further the institution’s goals towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position has college-wide responsibilities that require travel between campuses and to offsite locations.

Advocacy and Mobilizing/ Motivating Others: Serve as a champion of community college ideals, and, with the communications resources available to connect with the college community, mobilize stakeholders to take
action on behalf of the college. Always seek ways through various marketing and social media channels to engage with current and potential students, as well as supporters to keep them updated on new and great things taking place at the college.
Fundraising and Relationship Cultivation: Cultivate relationships across sectors that support the institution and advance the community college agenda and build relationships that support the college’s entrepreneurial efforts.
Communications: Demonstrate strong communication skills and fully embrace the role of community college spokesperson.
Collaboration: Develop and maintain cooperative, mutually beneficial, and ethical internal and external relationships that nurture diversity, promote the success of the college community, and sustain the community college mission.
