Job Summary The successful candidate will demonstrate a robust comprehension of freight market fundamentals and possess experience in freight analytics. They should have a knack for quick concept assimilation, a track record of delivering value through fundamental forecasts, and proficiency in market analysis, statistical modeling, and opportunity identification, all crucial to supporting CITGO's freight trading endeavors. Advanced analytical reasoning, proficiency in Excel, and a solid grasp of Python programming are essential. Comfort in handling extensive datasets to derive market insights is a must, as is meticulous attention to detail and adept communication skills to articulate ideas clearly.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree (Economics & Finance coursework preferred). MBA or higher preferred.
- Improving freight fundamental analysis across the Organization.
- Experience in building predictive models using Python libraries.
- Demonstrated leadership, positive influence, and teamwork behaviors.
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task in a dynamic high-pressure diverse team environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and utilization of fundamental market data to generate insightful views, propose profitable trades and trading strategies.
- Demonstrated understanding of regional and/or global markets and arbitrage economics.
- Leading the development and improvement of analytical tools.
- Demonstrated experience using analytical and problem-solving techniques.
Job Duties - Conduct comprehensive market analysis for the CITGO Freight Trading Team. Develop and implement trading strategies based on global freight market analysis, supply and demand dynamics, and macroeconomic factors. Collaborate with freight trading team to optimize trading decisions.
- Identify key risks and opportunities that significantly impact CITGO's profitability. Assist freight traders in the analysis and point-of-view development of the key drivers and utilize large data sets to derive insights into trends and potential opportunities in the market. Utilize statistical techniques and quantitative models to forecast market trends and prices. Improve, back test and research new trading signals that can improve hedging and systematic trading models based under different price regimes and macro conditions.
- Lead the team in spearheading the development and execution of Veson IMOS Platform, aimed at addressing logistical and freight risk management requirements with enhanced automation and transparency. Serve as the primary Veson Super User responsible for conducting testing, providing training to other users, and overseeing ongoing enhancements. Supervise the inception, creation, and integration of new tools and market data to enrich the freight trading team's resources and capabilities.
- Build and prepare regular reports on market analysis, trading performance, and risk exposure. Communicate findings and recommendations to management and trading team.
- Assist other segments of the Supply and Marketing group with analytical and decision-making resources and communicate market-related information to key constituents throughout the organization.
